Team Liquid Progaming Database, Version 2

Building a New Home for Esports Statistics

In 2013 I designed the second version of Team Liquid’s Progaming Database (TLPD). This new version greatly expanded the amount of data and anlaysis capabilities it offered, improving its usability and giving users the ability to find more interesting patterns within the competitive scene. And it was designed to support new and emerging titles much more easily (like Dota).

Unfortunately, while a lot of great work was done the project never released. So here's a bit of what the new experience would have been like.

Four versions of TLPD, beginning with TLPD1, then V1, V8, and the final design. The comparison highlights the iterations and how the product eventually simplified its visual language and became it's own website.
The player page, with a big summary section, and additional sections that include much more detail regarding their win rates, games, and achievements.
A section of the player page, showing the powerful filtration options that users can use to find much more specific pro player stories.
Four mobile-sized views showing how responsive and clear these data-heavy pages are, even with small screens.
The match page showing Flash vs Jaedong. Beyond the summary section, more details on their match details and win rates are included.
The league page begins with summary details and an overview of race statistics for that league. Further sections include participants, the map pool, and the games played for that tournament.
Sketeches of the new logo, with some wordmark verions, and various icon choices (most using team liquid's own brand as a visual reference.
The final brand, showing the icon + wordmark, 4 main colors, and the fonts used (Museo Sans + Slab, and Roboto). Notable, the icon is reminiscent of database icons (stacked cylinders) with the TL horse masked in this shape.
