The Race to World First

Introducing an Audience to Competitive World of Warcraft

In early 2022 I worked closely with the creative, marketing, and World of Warcraft (WoW) teams to build a cohesive strategy and design for a website that would help introduce competitive WoW to a broader esports audience.

The website was supported the biggest event of the year, the Race to World First, and would host competitive guides created by the newly acquired team, information about the team, and an integrated experience around the live streams which saw over 18,000 views during the event.

Five mobile view in a line showing the responsiveness of the main pages of the website: the event, the guild, and boss guides.
A section of the event page, showing a live overview of the raid's progress. The current boss with its remaining health and number of attempts, and all of the completed bosses.
Two pages showing the guides page and an individual guide for Skolex, the Instatiable Ravener. The guides page has a video introducing WoW to newcomers, and a list of guides that can be filtered by the raid tier.
A summary of the design tokens used, including Adobe Garamond and Helvetica Now (fonts), and 7 colors.
